Gasket name on top of throttle body? why is it there?
took apart tb today to clean it and the intake. noticed the gasket on the top of the throttle body was in really bad shape. under the plate on top has 6 star type screws in it.
what is it called because i can't find one?

Re: Gasket name on top of throttle body? why is it there?
No... the plate covers the passage that leads from a port in front of, and between the TB bores, that leads to the upper hose connection on the passenger side of the TB. That hose supplies air to the passenger side valve cover, to be pulled through the crankcase and lifter valley by the PCV valve on the driver's side of the intake.
The gasket is available in a "kit" that includes the gasket for the top cover plate, and another for the lower coolant/IAC plate. From Shoebox's website:
94-97 top and bottom throttle body gaskets:
AC-Delco # 40-743 17113074
$4.87
