Gas in Oil

I have some gas getting into my oil... oil is pretty saturated with gas. I'm about to change the oil but the car doesn't run AT all. How long, typically, does it usually take for the gas to rot out all the BRAND NEW equipment for a fully forged Eagle Bottom end, Clevite Bearings, and the Rings that come with SRP Pistons?

Re: Gas in Oil

If it's gas I would have to guess the rings were installed poorly.

If it's antifreeze I would guess cracked heads/block or at least bad head gaskets.

Positive it's gasoline?

Re: Gas in Oil

Well if the rings are letting fuel go past them and down into the oil pan, then obviously the engine would need to add more fuel to compensate for that lost when it goes past the rings.

How do you know it's rich? Like bogged down, or do you have an AF ratio monitoring thing?

Re: Gas in Oil

Check for a leaking injector, this could cause fuel to pool in a cylinder and drain down to the oil.

If one is stuck, you will know as soon as you turn the key on. You can also just hook a fuel pressure gauge to the rail and turn the key on. It should bleed down very quickly if one is leaking. I hope it is something simple and hasn't washed a ring.

Re: Gas in Oil

On a brand new motor, how fast does the gas in the oil deteriorate the rings/bearings? It hasn't been on for no more then 40 minutes but has been revved to try and keep it on everytime it has been on.

And it has been sitting and moved around for about 3-4 weeks. From the first startup to present day.

Re: Gas in Oil

Setting it won't hurt, but running ya are asking for trouble. Gas cuts the oil and washes the oil off the brgs and lower end. Change it before running it again.
