Gas in my Oil?
Gas in my Oil?
When I took my car to Pep Boyz to get an oil change, the guy there said he could smell gas in the oil. Since then it has been about 3000 miles so I am up for a new one, what can I do to check the amount of gas in the oil and how much is too much? And what can I do to find out what is causing it? I don’t think it is the rings because I would be blowing white smoke right? What do think could have been damaged so far. How sson do i have to fix it?
There should be NO gas in the oil and no smell of gas either. You need to check the vac line on the fuel regulator to se if it's wet or smells of gas. If it does than your gas in the oil problem is caused by a pin hole in the regulator diaphragm. This allows the vac line to pull fuel into the intake. Causing the car to run rich.
Other sources of the gas in the oil is a stuck injector allowing fuel to run into the cylinder when the car is off. This problem can be cured by having the injectors professionally cleaned through the fuel rail.
Both of these problems can also be found by monitoring the fuel pressure once the car is shut off to see how fast the pressure bleeds down.
Don't let this problem go any longer.
Good luck
