Gas Milleage Question? What do you get

I have a 94 T/A A4 with 117000 miles on it, also has 2.73 gears in the rearend. I usually drive around 80-90mph on the highway and when it pretty empty, around 2300-2400rpm. does 80 at 2000 rpm. 85% of the time I drive on the highways. Going home from college and such. I been getting gas milleage around 20-24miles per gallon. I picked up a cheap filter like the ones that come with a intake. I got it for like 20 from pepboys. Then that week my gas milleage went up to 26.5miles per gallon. I was very happy with the milleage. Then last week it dropped to 17.2 miles per gallon. The last two times I filled it up. The car doesn't feel like it's missing or anything. If I punch it....she moves. So my question is should I be concerned or what I am getting is decent or average for these cars.

clean ur filter....or....or what was the temp difference, and im sure alot of it has to do w/ how much u went WOT, cuz that KILLS the gas mileage, i have a 3 speed tranny and 4.11's in the back, and i still get like 15-20 as long as i dont punch it everywhere, and my lt1's carbeurated...

I just spoke to my Friend who has a 95 z28 A4 with Slp cold air intake and Magnaflow and he told me he gets around 18-19miles per gallon...but I am sorta wondering and it's bugging me because I was getting high before and now it just dropped.

Re: Gas Milleage Question? What do you get

Yea same here I seen 26.5miles per gallon and then it just dropped. The car had total tune up and injectors flush and tranny fluid changed. Also One of the O2 sensor is bad...waiting to go home and change it....But should a O2 sensor effect gas milleage by that much...

Re: Gas Milleage Question? What do you get

yea, It tells the comp how tich or lean the engine is running. So, if your O2 is reading lean, it is telling the comp to add more fuel and makes the engine run rich.

Re: Gas Milleage Question? What do you get

yea I posted a thread here...few weeks ago about the car not ideling and hesitationg a bit at WOT...everybody said it was the O2. So I took the driver side one out...and it looked at crap. The passenger side couldn't take out...it got dark...plus i didn't have the tool to take it out. But the not ideling calmed down a bit...and hopefully friday i'll get the other one changed and she should be running good again. I was surprised how bad the O2 sensor was yet the engine didn't throw a code.

1997 Camaro Z28
Automatic
2.73 Limited Slip
89*** miles
Borla Cat Back adjustable exhaust (currently open exhaust after the cats)

I average 17mpg with a WOT around every corner, and i powershift all the time forget the overdrive unless im cruising down the interstate.

Around town I get about 9-10 but on the highway even cruising at 80 I get 23-24 mpg w/ 3.73's in an A4.
