Gaining lift without swapping the cam, questions!
Gaining lift without swapping the cam, questions!
I was thinking, like usual, and i was wondering if i could increase the size of my pushrod and maybe that would give me more lift? As far as i can see the only problem with it is, that it just won't work period because of the springs limits or rocker limits etc. But what are all my options for gaining lift without swapping the cam? All i can think of is 1. bigger roller rockers 2. bigger pushrods. Any ideas?
Re: Gaining lift without swapping the cam, questions!
longer pushrods will not increase lift nor will pr's with a bigger o.d. all it will do is screw up your valvetrain geometry. the only way to increase lift without swapping cams is to put a higher ratio rocker on. but going from the stock 1.5's up to 1.6's will require a spring change the stock lt1 spring is pretty much maxed out with the stock cam. imho unless you understand how a valvetrain functions and how to set one up properly its best to keep your hands out of it.
Re: Gaining lift without swapping the cam, questions!
im not advising this in any way, but ive ran 1.6 rockers on my stock springs for over 20,000 miles with no problems at all. its cheap insurance to at least use some lt4 springs, but me and a few friends have gotten away without changing anything except for the rockers.
Re: Gaining lift without swapping the cam, questions!
A longer pushrod won't work because you won't fully close the valve, and as stated above, it will screw up the geometry as the "tip" of the rocker won't be properly centered on the pushrod. Changing to 1.6 RR's will increase your lift but as stated above, you will likely end up with coil bind on the stock springs.
