FYI (running problems)
I've read a number of post of members having problems with their cars not running correctly so I'm posting this incase anyone else has had the same or similar symptoms.
It first started a couple months ago the car would start fine, I would then start to drive then it would just die. It would fire right back up no problem and be fine. Then it would do it again maybe a month later, then a couple of weeks, then a week getting progressivaly worse. Then it got to the point were it would start for about 2 seconds then die and it would sometimes take 50 tries to get it running. Anytime it did run it wouldn't miss so I did think it was the opti. So I checked the fuel pressure, It would jump up to 40psi on start up then drop and the engine would cut out. So I thought it might be the fuel pump or the relay. So I replaced the relay but no luck. So I then checked the fuel pump by hooking up a wire from the positive battery terminal to the fuel pump priming wire connector located next to the pcm. This caused the fuel pump to run and I could then start the car and it would stay running so I knew it wasn't the fuel pump. I then checked the ICM to see if that was ok and it was fine. I now figured it had to be the PCM was dying. So I took it to the dealer to let them check the PCM. The PCM had internal short so it would need replacing. Fortunantely the PCM has a 8 year warranty and was replaced for free. I did have to pay the $75.00 diagnostics fee though. Now the cars is running great again.
Hope this helps and saves anyone from going through the same thing.
