Fusible Link?????
Fusible Link?????
My car started to run like crud yesterday. It would barely start. I reset the ses light, and the sec I turned the key it reappeared. A sesnsor fuse in engine bay was blown. replaced it, drove it and at 2000rpm, all power cut in and out a few times (lights, door chimes, everything). I then replaced a fusible link w/ a burnt(charred) connector. Was that my prob? Only driven 2 miles since but seems ok. I live in the sticks, work is 25 mi. and only place in town charges $35 to hook up to scanner.
Fusible links provide major power to lots of different places. You would definitely has some kind of problem if one were burnt. I hope you found some reason why it was blown or it may happen again.
If you have an Autozone nearby, they will scan your 1996 OBD-II car for free.

What kind of things do they provide power to? Like I said, I live 25 mi. from work and there arent any shops in between except for the one I mentioned. There is an A-zone where I work, but can they get a code without an ses? I'd really hate to break down in BFE. After I fixed it (I hope), I noticed a heat shielded wire cover nearly on the exh. man. Seems like plug wires are behind it.
