Fuse block wiring help

Hi guys,

I'm in the midst of cleaning up my harness to thin out my engine bay, and one of the biggest challenges has been removing the stock fuse box from the harness that I'm using (i'm using a 1996 Impala SS harness with my 95 motor...) Right now when the harness is in the engine, there are way too many wires clustered up by the passenger side firewall. A stock camaro harness doesn't have the integrated fuse box, so i'm trying a different way around the problem.

I've been using this site:

Fuse Block and OBD2 Port Wiring

to re-wire my fuseblock, so it is mounted against the firewall. I was wondering if anyone out there knows of a few parts which I can't seem to find -- i dont know the names or search terms.

1) I need a generic fuse holder for the 2 large fuses which control the Primary and Secondary cooling fans. Right now I only have provisions for the smaller size fuses. I currently have 5 relays (Starter relay, fuel pump, AC, fan 1 and fan 2). These relays are fitted in these sockets:

SOCKET FOR AUTOMOTIVE RELAY | AllElectronics.com

which slide onto this fuse block (i have 2 of these connected for all my fused circuits.)

Dorman Universal Fuse Blocks 85668 - SummitRacing.com

2) I need to find a nice little box which these parts could live in. Does anyone have one they'd recommend? I could just scour the junk yard, but if there's a nice box out there, I'm all ears.

I think the rest of the stuff will be ok, unless anyone out there thinks otherwise. Anything I'm missing?

Thanks for the help in advance!

Re: Fuse block wiring help

You've posted something similar on another forum, with regard to cleaning up the engine compartment/wiring. I think you might have a better chance of getting responses if you were to include some pictures of the LT1 engine installed in the Jaguar. I'm not sure everyone picks up that this is a transplant, and those of us who do have no idea what an 84 Jaguar engine compartment even looks like. Then the fact you are using B-Body parts leaves out most of us who have no idea what a B-Body wiring harness/fuse box looks like.

Re: Fuse block wiring help

Hi Injuneer,

Yes, that was me alright. Where should I add more information regarding the project, other than this post?

Here's a picture of the LT1 B-Body harness. Note the fuse block in the upper-middle of the photo.

The picture is missing a couple of the Body connectors -- one is a large 20 pin connector (the c204) and there is a smaller C205 connector. The fellow who modified this harness must have removed them.

Here is a picture of the fuse block - it is integrated into the harness. I would like to be able to remove this integrated harness and move the fuses & relays to another location.

Here are three pictures of the jaguar engine bay -- the pictures aren't the best, but you can get a sense for how things are laid out. The bay is about the same as a B-Body (impala/caprice) and the harness layout is similar as well:

The biggest problem is up by the battery (hard to see in the pictures, but its there.) With the fuse block, the battery cables & the C204/c205 connectors (which i am using to integrate into the cab to run the various dash functions), there is just an overload of crap up front and makes everything look horrible. I know lots of guys on the forum have really neat, tidy engine bays and I'd love to have something like that.
