Fuell pump going out again

I have had three fuel pumps and one relay in the past three years. Yesterday the fuel pump didn't turn on until I thinmped the gas tank. It is an OEM fuel pumo with a lifetime warranty that covers installation so price isn't the big issue, but something is causing it to go out.

The fuel filter gets changed a couple of times a year and the car sees little road time except for the 5 minutes to and from work and the weekend trips to the track. Any tips or guesses as to what would cause a fuel pump to go?

BTW: I alsways keep a full tank of gas in it. I'm not worried about the fastest ET but I want the consistency of having the car the same weight every race.

just a stab in the dark, but is there any dent in the tank where the pump pick-up is?? this can cause pumps to go out sometimes. just a thought.

Sounds to me like you have a bad ground. That could cause certain electrical components to possibly get hot or wear out more quickly if there is a problem with them getting a good ground connection. Check all your electrical connections associated with the system while you're at it.

Thanks for the tip on the ground. I will look into that. The lifetime warranty is from the local chevy dealer.
