fuel system has vlotage but no pressure

ok so my 96 z28 will not start. has spark but apparently no fuel.

first i checked for voltage at the relay has power in and out and good ground. then i checked at the connector just in front of the axle on the drivers side. has twelve volts at the connector and ground is i think intact.

i cant really hear the pump working like people said i should even when i am underneath the car right by the tank. i should be able to hear it from there right?

then i put a pressure gauge at the schrader valve at the fuel rail and with two different both brand new and different brand gauges. neither one showed any pressure at all. when checking for pressure is there anything i need to do besides screw the fitting onto the test port?

so at this point i am thinking i need a new pump. is there a difference in any brands is there a reccomended model car is all stock right now and will stay like that for a while so i dont have a stroker build up coming or anything should i just go with the parts store brand?

and how long has the swap taken any other do it your selfers or should i pay someone and how much am i looking at?

thanks for any advice you can give

You should hear the fuel pump prime for approximately 2 seconds when you turn the key to on. If you have voltage to the pump relay and you have voltage to the relay signal line during those 2 seconds, then you have a bad fuel pump.

Voltage at the back connector and no pressure means your fuel pump is officially dead. You are doin gth epressure check correctly. With the gauge threaded onto the schraeder behind the fuel rails you should get 42-43 psi right of the bat and it should hold for a while.

I would either go with a stock drop in replacement or the racetronix drop in style. The upgrade harness is unnecessary for you at this point.

Just to clarify, 42 - 42 psi is with the vacuum line removed from the FPR.
