Hello all,

I have a 96 Z28 and the fuel pump will not prime for 2 seconds with the ignition is turn to on - totally dead. I checked the fuel pump circuit and everything has power. However, upon inspection of the fuel pump wiring harness coming off the fuel pump, the purple wire was frayed - exposing bare wire. The grey wire powering the fuel pump looked fine as did the black ground wire. Could the frayed wire be shorting out and keeping the pump from running or did the pump just die? The fuel gauge on the dash is working. The fuel pump has about 107,000 miles on it. Thanks for any insight.

 

You can test it with a meter to see.
