Fuel pump replaced Air in system

Just dropped the new racetronix fuel pump into the car today, New fuel filter put in. Car Still wont start.
Fuel pump runs just great, It stumbled on about 4 cylinders for a bit but that was it.
Ive taken pliers to the schrader valve and get nothing but air.
Anyone else have this problem? Im considering buying a fuel pressure guage to help bleed the system.

Also I noticed a massive hiss from the engine like the injectors blowing air, but stopped when I floored the gas pedal (the engine stumbled the same no matter where the gas pedal was though rpms did not change).

I would REALLY like to get the car going tonite. Im taking a 600 mile trip in about 2 weeks.

It should bleed itself by turning the key on and off a few times.Did you put a new filter in?

Yes, fuel filter is new, put it on AFTER the pump was installed.

I routed the fuel line from the pump to the feeder tube at the top inside the assembly. Curved nicely, no sharp bends.

Just wondering if anyone has had troubles with the pump sucking air at the bottom of the cup it sits in?
(although the pump DID sit up by itself as stated it should).

Another thing, the gas guage doesnt work LOL....
Dunno the prob of that, maybe the float is stuck on the fuel strainer. Im waiting till I have a NEW one to replace it with regardless the problem. If Im gonna have to rip the whole thing out again, theres gonna be somethin NEW go in there for my troubles.

(luckily I used the trap door method to remove it so, Not too hard to remove the whole thing again)

Strange, Had the car on the battery charger a bit, was run down.
added another 5 gal of gas (good stuff) to the tank in the meantime.
Just pulled it off the charger, fired right up. Went for a spin, runs like a dream. :-)

Now to fix the gas guage

Advice??? Make SURE the fuel lines on the top will clear the deck where you have cut it, It makes putting it in so much easier.
Just get it part way in with the lines pointing at about 9 o'clock.
Turn it to face the right way and push down HARD!!!!!

The whole assembly is spring loaded, helps to have a second person to bolt the metal ring down as soon as its lined up, because the spring will want to pop the whole assembly back up again.
Other than that, its about as easy as it gets.
Good luck!!

Hope you did not run the pump dry for too long as this will damage the motor's armature contacts and brushes?
