Fuel pump question and more

I did a tuneup thinking that maybe it would solve some of the problems i have been having and it really didnt. First off when you install a 255 lph fuel pump do u need to change the regulator or have the computer tuned for it . Cause when i try to start my car it takes maybe 5-8 cranks before it starts. The weired thing is that it did the same thing with the stock fuel pump. My other problem is that when the car is warmed up it shakes and after a while the car just stalls out and dies. Could an o2 sensor cause this or iac valve. I even changed the opti ,coil, plugs wires and thermostat just to make sure and there is no difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

You shouldn't have to change the regulator, but that might be your problem. Get a fuel pressure gauge and check your pressure before and after the regulator. (if you can)

Temp sensors cause wierd issues too, but really, you need to get a scanner on your car and see if anything is obviously not working - it might save ya a lot of money as opposed to shotgunning stuff until you accidentally fix it.

You might want to add a "signature" with basic info about your car ..... model, year, tranny type, any major mods. While you appear to have some of that in your screen name, its really not the best way to do it.

Exclamation

I am just about to begin replacement of my fuel pump with a 255lph in tank. Requires draining the tank, removing the rear axle, depressuring the fuel lines. What pump would anyone recommend to drain the tank. I have an air assist brake bleeder which says in the manual that use with flammable liquids could result in serious injury/death/property damage. Not an option.

Put a siphon hose in the fill pipe and suck.

May be difficult to wiggle the hose into the bottom of the tank, but it can be done.

Again - helpful hint.... why not add a "signature" so we don't have to guess what year car you are asking about. We can all assume its a 3rd or 4th Gen from the question, but sometimes there are idiosyncrasies dependant on the specific year, model, etc.

Add a PERMANENT signature. Click on "User CP" on the red bar at the top of the screen, and then click on "edit profile". Enter the info there. It will show up on every post you make, unless you "unclick" the "show your signature" field at the bottom of the post (or reply to) thread screen.
