fuel problems on 383

i installed my engine a couple weeks ago. when i drove it, it ran like crap. i could not go passed 30 mph. it was at about 3k rpm. i then noticed that the fuel pressure was at 80 psi. i tried regulating it but wouldnt go down. its an accel afpr. i have hooker lt's with no exhaust setup yet. just headers. i dont have any o2's connected. what could cause the pressure to be that high and not be able to regulate? could i have connected the fuel lines wrong way (return line on the afpr)? could the return line be clogged? bad afpr? gauge not working? what could it be? how do i fix it? please help.

well you can't connect the fuel lines the wrong way because one fitting is smaller than the other, now as for the O2's if there not connected it's really no big deal you'll just run really rich, to get to the real problem it sounds like you have blockage in you return line or your fpr is bad if you have a stock one I would start there and then look for blockage.

Yes it will cause your car to run like $hit to have 80psi fuel pressure. You should have around 43pounds at idle and 45-47psi at WOT. I would switch back to the stock regulator if you still have it.

Good luck,

Just curious..... you've posted this problem before (2/12), and several people offered comments and suggestions. Have you checked as suggested?

If you keep the problem in a single thread, people will know what has already been suggested. It's also a good idea to indicate to the people who took the time to respond that you considered their advice and either followed up on it, or chose not to.
