Fuel Pressure WAY too high!
Fuel Pressure WAY too high!
I have a 94 Z28 and just putting it it Run, the fuel pressure shoots to around 40 psi and then either every other attempt, or back-to-back attempts, the pressure shoots straight to 100 psi !!!
I do have a new fuel pump and a new aeromotive regulator (i think this is the culprit)
Can someone please list all the possible causes?
thanks

Is this while the car is running or just with the key in the run position (not running)? Why not stick the stock regulator back on there and test it. Unless your injectors are a tad too small or you plan on running FI or N20, then you don't even need an AFPR, IMHO.
Ehh, I bet its the regulator. Not much else it can be. Even if the pump "stuck on" or something crazy like that, the regulator should STILL let all the extra pressure out through the return line back into the tank.
I would do what he says, swap your stocker on and see what happens. If that fixes it, send that thing back immediately, and dont even try running it on your car.

The Aeromotive AFPR's have been a problem now for about 5 years. They had someone join CZ28.com and rip me a new butthole when I pointed this problem out a few years ago, blamed the problems on some sort of change in gasoline formulation, and offered anyone a replacement AFPR, no questions asked. Here we are a few years later and here's another problem.
Yea the only real changes in gasoliene in the past 50 years have been:
Change to unleaded
And then more recently ( Like withing 10 years I think) Sunoco began adding a 10% Ethanol to all grades of their gasoliene. Which shouldnt hurt a FPR in any way possible ... WTF ? Will get worse mileage/less power, but barely noticable. Citgo is one of the few who still doesnt use Ethanol in any of its gasoliene, as far as I am aware.
What a rediculous reply. I think its hilarious they came after you on here though.

There have been significant changes in gasoline formulation over the past 20 years... it is "possibly" a valid excuse, although a weak one.
Yes, it does shoot up high when driving. The car ran fine for about 2 weeks and then this..... unfortunately i junked my stock regulator.... dumb move!
Now, after reading about what you're saying about aero's product, i don't even think i want to get a replacement from them.....
I guess i'm going back to stock..... are there any good websites where i can find one for a good (cheap) price?
Thanks
