Fuel pressure regulator location????

Alright heres the scoop! I took my car into the chevy dealer to look into my transmission, it was making noise when in drive and on the brake. Since it was going I wanted them to look at my driver window because it would make it up almost all the way and then shift and make a popping sound and finish. I asked them to also look into my air bag light to find out why it was on. They come back and tell me that the trans mount is loose, there is a half dollar size hole in the bell housing, the fuel pressure regulator is leaking, power window regulator is bad and the air bag sensing unit needs to be replaced. I gave them my aftermaket warranty info and ask them to see if anything is covered. The only thing covered is the window regulator.

Now I know my car runs rich before it warms up but that gas smell then goes away so I dont know if he is just saying its the FPR or not? The air bag I could care less about as long as I can find the wire that controls the light and cut it...Thats the only reason I had them check it, I hate seeing the light. The trans mount I should be able to tighten myself. The car is a 96 LT1, MAC headers, ported the MAF, airfoil, CAI and has about 117000 on it. My questions are how can I see if this FPR is actually leaking, does anyone know what wire controls the airbag light and what does the trans mount look like?

please help me! : )

The FPR is on the back drivers side of the intake, where the fuel lines run into it.

Mine is on the Passenger side located on the fuel rail at the rear of the intake manifold.

94-97 are ALL bolted into the back of the drivers side fuel rail, with the hardline from the fuel return line connected to it.

Back of intake

Pull the vacuum line off the end of the fuel pressure regulator (the one in the picture has fallen off and is laying on the EGR valve) and smell the vacuum line to see if there is raw fuel in it. If there is raw fuel, the diaphragm is leaking.

I must be having a senior moment, but I could swear that my AFPR is located near my shrader valve on the passenger's side. Oh well, just goes to show you what happens when you get old.

The 93 are on the passenger side, and some of the Vette LT1's are too, just not sure what years on the Vettes.

My 97SS (april 97) might be an exception. I will take a peak when I get home and let you know.

Wouldn't the AFPR be located in the same place as the FPR? I recall dialing in the FP numerous times during a dyno a few years back, but don't ever remember standing on the driver's side.

My steering wheel is on the right side of the car as you look at it from the front or the left side as you sit in the car.

An AFPR and FPR are different things.
AFPR is an Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator and an FPR is Fuel Pressure Regulator. Stock the Fuel Pressure Regulator is not adjustable, you have to install an Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator. They both mount in the same spot which is the drivers side where the fuel lines connect.
It can be confusing, I just call it the back of the intake.

You are correct. I checked mine last nite. It is an inch or so towards the driver's side.

I have to dial in the FP from the passenger's side however, because that is where I get access to the AFPR and shrader valve.

+Hey guys, thanks for the help! I am going to check to see if I can smell gas there. If the FPR was bad would it cause a gas smell that would be there only when the car was first started? Because the smell seems to go away once the car warms up????

Thanks again,
Rich
