Frozen Doors

It's winter now and I didn't want to repeat last year. Does anyone have any tips on how to keep my doors from freezing closed when it's icy out. I really hate to have to pry on my doors to open them.

You can use a can of de-icer, but I prefer a warm bucket of water.

yeah, park the car in the garage! J/K
Im kind of curious also... but I wouldnt use a bucket of warm water. That would be like adding more wood to the fire, adding more water that will freeze quickly after you open and close your doors.

Coat the rubber seals with some Armor All or some Eagle One Wet tire shine. basically anything that will keep water out. Vasaline would probably work.

Damn... glad I live in Florida and don't have to deal with that!

Wonder if I should take my t-tops out today when I run into town?

I would rather have my door froze shut a couple of times than put up w/ love bugs all over the front of my car, and all the rain FL gets! Flooding, humidity, and rain!

hehehehe

yes coat your rubber seals with some sort of grease. Wether it be vaseline, or tire dressing, just use something thick that won't evaporate. I prefere white lithium grease in a spray can. As we all know water and oil/grease don't mix. So even if water freezes to your seals/door it will pull open since it can't "stick" with the coating of lube.

Before I had a garage, I just used silicon on the weather stripping. It will also prevent it from cracking in the really hot/dry climates.

Wait for your car to thaw out and then drive it , thats what i do thats why i got a honda backup car, the funny thing is the honda insurance on liability on me with no tickets or accidnets is twice as much as my mom on the z28 with 2 tickets and 1 accident on full coverage.

Insurance is trying to rob Young Children.

I second the Hairdryer, I tried the warm buckets of water before and they froze in less time than it took to get the door open.
