Front wheel noises -- owls?

Hello,

Got a strange noise coming from the driver side front area when driving that car at low speeds after warm up (less than 10 mph).

This sounds like a whoooo---whoooo---whooooo sound.

Not metailic sounding, but more like something is rubbing.

I've recently mounted my snow tires with steel wheels to the car. Same wheels I used last season and the season before.

No noises are present when the car is cold, nor when the brakes are applied.

Almost seems like the brake pads are rubbing against something, but can't imagine what since there is no pulsation in the pedal...

Noise occurs both when slowing down and accelerating.

Any ideas..

Thanks!

try swapping your old wheels/tires back in and see if it goes away. If it doesn't, you could be looking at stuck calipers or a wheel bearing going out.

Something else I just realized.

When I pulled off the summer tires, both front wheels had uneven wear --- the insides of both tires had more wear than outside.. Rears were wearing evenly.

I wonder, given that the snow tires had even wear when i put 'em on, that due to the worn out suspension, it's actually the tires themselves that are 'rubbing', which is what's causing this noise.

Granted, it's not a good thing, but a full suspension upgrade is not in the budget at this time. The snow tires are on their 4th season, so it'll be time to replace them next season as well, so uneven wear is not much of a problem either.

I'll definitely jack the car and see if there's any looseness or binding in the wheels.

Thanks!
