93 m29 vs 94+ M6 should I trade?

I just got a 93 m29 trans for a 6speed conversion.
I have someone wanting to trade me for a new style T56.
They are telling me that with 4.10's I might not make it thru the 60' mark without having to shift and that this trans is a lot weaker.

What do you thin should I trade. He wants my trans for autocross

There are 2 different 6speed trannys for 93. Both have lower 1st gears than the 94+ and they are rated for 400 FPS of torque. The 94+ are rated for 450 FPS.

so since I have the m29 I'm supposed to have the lower 1st gear
Is that a problem with 4.10's?

Can the dealer tell you which trans you have based on the tag on the trans?

The M29 trans is a stronger trans!!! Don't trade it.

Here's the deal. In 93, when GM started the LT1 F-Body production, Borg Warner didn't have the F-Body spec T-56's ready yet. So GM goes to Chrysler, and buys up a bunch of Viper T-56's. Thus, the two different ones in the 93 F-Body, and the different gearing and power rating. The M28 was the weaker one. I believe that the M29 is rated to something like 450 LB/FT also.

With 4.10's and a 6000 redline, you would make it to 38 in first, 54 in second, 78 in third, 112 in fourth, 140 in fifth, and 180 in sixth. 3:73's are a better match to the M29. It's your call.

If you insist on getting rid of it, I have a built 95 T-56 in one of my 93's that I would love to trade you for depending on condition. I've got a stock rear (3:23) and it's kinda doggish down low.

As stated above I would not trade it. I have an M28 which has even a lower first gear than an M29 and an pushing over 700 rwhp with no problems.

Butt.

I stand corrected on the TQ rating though. It's only 400 Ft/Lb, like the 94+. The M28 was only 350.

Well dammit. Cut me some slack all right? I'm sick. I glanced down and saw the 94+ auto rating.

The M29 still rules........

How do I tell which one I have without opening things up? I have an early 93, serial number in the low 11,000s roughly the first third of production. i think a feb 93 build date. i can check the vin.

I got confused with the post. are the chrysler (earlier) ones the stronger ones?

The M29 (Chrysler) is the stronger one.

Check your RPO code sticker. It should say either M28 or M29 on it.

Actually, what rear end gearing do you have?? The M29 came with a 3.23 and the M28 came with a 2.73.

Look on the inside of your glove box lid. It will have M28 or M29. It will also give your rear gear, GU2-2.73 or GU5-3.23.
VIN has nothing to do with it. It was an option.
