Free OBD-II monitoring software??

Is there any software out there that ls like Datamaster or Freescan that would allow me to monitor and record information from my OBD-II PCM? I already have the cable to talk to my OBD-I.... Not sure if this will work for OBD-II???

What will the diagnostics be used for? If it's just DTC's and simple stuff like that, car code (www.obd-2.com) is probably the cheapest and easiest solution. This is a very generic scanner but does work well. There's better, but the costs increase rapidly.

If you like linux and want to build your own hardware you may want to look into the link above. I haven't played with freediag.... yet.

Talking Re: Free OBD-II monitoring software??

Cool, I downloaded the free scan software from the obd-2 site. I am thinking this will get the job done. The main goal right now is to get the Long term Fuel Trim info.... I think this will do the trick...

I'll let you know how it goes..

Thanks for the great info!!!

I believe the software from OBD-2.com requires a key before it'll connect to your car It's still very cheap stuff. Look around at the software and see if it'll work for you, if so I'm sure you can afford it
