Re: free mods

I know of a couple free mods for the LT1.
Throttle Body Bypass, but after reading your sig you've already done.
Descreened MAF sensor (port and polish too).
Homemade Ram Air setup directing the air flow onto your air box or filter.
Take out extra weight, seats, floor mats, jack, spare tire, etc...
Im sure there might be more but thats the main ones that I can think of.
Every little bit helps.

Re: free mods

I advise against messing with the MAF. The screen provides smooth flow over the sensor wire for an accurate reading and if you port it you will not be providing an accurate reading to the PCM. JMHO

According to a book I have the only purpose the screen serves is to protect the sensor wires from debri. As long as you have an air filter on this shouldn't be a issue.

I agree 100%
keep the screen the most you would gain is 1-2hp and some lose hp so in my opinion its not worth the risk

Re: free mods

take the tires off the rear wheels. this will have the same effect as putting in lower gears. you may want to get some of that rubber spray coating and spray it on the wheels though.

Re: free mods

I agree NOT to descreen and port the maf. I did it and gained nothing other than slightly faster throttle response, and I'm talking BARELY.

Moving the battery to the trunk...um...others i can't think of.

Re: free mods

Free mods are a waste of time, get yourself some real power mods. Wooooo doggy! I tell you what!

I'm building a motor myself. Since Im about to roll onto 140K. I don't want to lose my daily driver.

Im gonna put in a tiny cam, anyways point being most people don't notice a difference from free mods.

Re: free mods

Free mods are good if you are looking for an extra edge at the track.... Maybe a tenth or two...

I did the thottle body bypass, because its easier to remove without radiator fluid leaking out every time I clean it...
