Arrow found a vacum leak?!

i was checking the tranny fluid, and checking for leakage on my tb bypass that i did a few months back...more or less just checking all the fluids.

as i moved the by pass hose that i put in placed i moved a little rubber elbow, and it made the motor almost die! i played with it and noticed that it has the whole bottom dry rotted...its a little black box thing, on the passenger side just above the exhaust manifold, next to the intake..and it has two plastic lines that run towards the throttle body, and then it has rubber elbows to connect them to the tb. and reason being it only has the miss when the motor gets warmed up...and i read a post a while back that said rubber isnt as flexible when it cold, then as it heats up it will expand, and cause leaks...this i HOPE is the problem.

what does that gizmo do??? and it being a vacum leak and all, it could be another possibilty to the high rpm miss right?!

thanks again,
steve

P.S. im going to replace it this afternoon and tell you from there.

Hey I had this same problem and its still persists, i just noticed my little rubber elbow was in dire need of replacement as well. My car has a rough idle problem and when i disconnected it the idle hardly changed. Im going to the dealer to buy a new one and ill let you know if it does anything.
