forgot to install the reluctor onto my crank.

I have a 96 z28 which obviously has the different hub than the 93-95 model. Well I installed everything along with my 96 hub and pulley and forgot to put the stupid reluctor in. Do I absolutely need this or can I just get pcmforless or someone to just program the reluctor(crank position sensor) out of the computer. Also would I have to have the 93-95 hub in order to do this? Thanks for any help.

Did you by chance put in a double roller chain? If so you don't need the ring. My buddy put in his double roller on his 97 and just left off the ring.

You don't need it...but you did make up the space difference right?

The belt won't line up without it.

You've probably damaged the hub when it was pressed against the crank key, get a 93-95 hub.

yep, get the old style hub, and have someone program out the CPS, or switch to OBDI

If its on a Double roller you will need to make some sort of spacer of .067".

So I'm intrigued, can you put a double roller on an otherwise stock 96+ LT1?

Yes, with the use of a '93-95 hub.
Someone said you can have a spacer made up? I found it easier to get the hub from Jason Cromer.
You need to remove the reluctor for the CPS, and have it programmed out or switch to OBDI

does this mean you can use a double roller on a 94, with out any other changes? or do you still need the spacer?

Everything is possible, you'de have to convert it to vented opti, however.

I made a spacer out of aluminum to fit inside the hub so it wouldnt rub against the gear. You guys think .067" would actually make that much of a difference to where the pulleys dont line up?

on a 94 you have to convert to a vented opti, and you need a electric w/p
