Forgot to degree cam properly with LE2 h&c, any forseable problems?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Me and my firned installed the LE2 h&c setups the past week. My numbers were 400 rwhp and 365rwtq through a 6 speed. After talking to both Bret and Lloyd, the tq number seems to be a little low and Bret immediately asked about the cam degree as if he knew we did not set it properly.

After resetting the cam, will I need another tune performed on the car? I have had a dyno tune done, and would rather not spend the unnecessary money if I can work around it and not sacrifice performance.

Also, looking at my dyno graph, the tq and hp lines are not as smooth as compared to other LE2 setups. The hp line looks like a heart beat line after about 6000 rpms.

Bret- you have a PM.

Those #'s sound very decent given what you have done. I really dont think that torque number is too low either given that your motor is still at 350 ci.
As far as degreeing the cam, some cams are more in need of degreeing than others. It all depends on how exactly accurate they were cut when they were made. I have heard that degreeing many cams will make little or no difference, while some cams can be off by as much a 6 degrees, which is a lot. So I guess it depends on how lucky you were.
Now that you have already installed the cam without degreeing it though, how does the car drive?? You should probably be able to tell if the cam is WAY off, especially in your low end power and drivability. If everything seems ok and you are happy, you might be able to get away with just leaving it in there ar this point. But, its up to you, maybe you should enjoy the car for a while now, and then get the cam degreed properly over the winter or whenever you have time. I wouldnt consider it an emergency to do right away though if the car runs good. Goodluck with what-ever you decide to do.

The car runs like a bat out of hell. If it is not an emergency, then I think Ill leave as is until the winter time and ejoy it for the time being.

With the LE2 cam, I do notice that when cruising in 5th gear at 40mph the car 'jerks' back and forth in a sense. I assume this is due to the size of the cam though, and not the way it was installed and is perfectly normal. Can anyone verify this as well?

Thanks!

That jerking your talking about is cam surge. It usually occurs at speeds around where you are saying when you are in low rpm's. As long as it is not too extreme and goes away at other rpms you should not be too worrried about it. The LE2 cam is rather large, and I would think you should expect a little cam surge from it. It is one of the sacrafices you make for the kind of power it produces. With the cam being so far from stock, you have to expect some things to be different.

Dont mind the minimal sacrifice down low for the way it pulls up top.

Its still very streetable.
