followup to lt1 mystery
about the o2's.... i made a v6-v8 engine swap 2 years ago and the car still has v6 exhaust from the Y pipe back (except flowmaster muffler and tips)
therefore the 2nd O2 sensor (the one behind the cat) has nowhere to hook up. it is just tied up where it won't drag the ground... it seems like it being unhooked would make the car run poor but it has ran fine for 2 years like that so i have a hard time believing it is that sensor.....
however i do have the front O2 hooked up and it could have gone bad. I will replace it and see if that makes a difference.

I re-flushed the oil to get rid of any gasoline residue and changed the oxygen sensor........
the car cranks up and runs PERFECT with no smoke at all for about five minutes......
so i'm thinking problem solved......
BUT ..... after running perfect for 5 minutes all of the sudden it puts out a large puff of black smoke and the engine DIES!!!
WTF!!!!!!!
what else could be wrong?????
