Fluttering oil pressure at idle....any reasons why??
Fluttering oil pressure at idle....any reasons why??
Car runs great btw, but I notice when the car is fired up cold...the pressure is around 60+ psi. When I begin to drive it, its prob at 45psi or so. Now, when I am sitting there idling after its fully warmed up, it flutters a bit above the 1/4 mark(around 20-25psi). It never goes below that and never goes into the red. The flutter stabilizes once i give it any amount of gas and comes back up to a little over half on the guage. The car is oil tight except for a rear main seal that has to be replaced. I plan on doing it within the next two weeks when my clutch goes in. Any idea why the oil pressure has a flutter at idle?

mine does the same thing. i was worried for a while about it, but my car hasnt blown up yet or anything from it, and its been a month or so. so i dont even worry anymore
Re: Fluttering oil pressure at idle....any reasons why??
same here. my 93 flutters a bit more at idle, while my 96 flutters just a tad, but noticeable. i figure as long as it doesn't completely drop, and it goes up under acceleration, and stays no lower than ~20 at idle, i should be fine.
