Flushing the heater core?

I have questions on flushing it, anyone have a write up? Also, think i should take out the 160 stat for winter, or do you all leave yours in?

the hose on the heater core that is closest to the pass. side is the outlet. the other is inlet. remove hoses from heater core and attach a spare 3 foot section of 3/4 inch hose to the inlet side and run it down to a catch pan. hook up a garden hose to outlet side and turn water on slowly at first. this will back flush the heater core. you can still use the 160 stat. it will just take a little longer to warm up.

I didn't use any extra tubing, that would be optional. I took both hoses off and flushed water in the inlet side and then in the outlet side. You'll see that the water that was in the heater core is a little dirty looking. More than likely, this will help your heating problem. It helped mine.

Cool

If your core is pluged up I would disconnect both hoses from the core and use a hose to flush water through it BACKWARDS. This should hopefully flush out whatever is plugging it up.
