flow #'s vs. HP

Lloyd's headwork flows about (eportworks.com) LE1--255/180 and LE2 270/190 and LE3 275/195

Just trying to figure out what option is best for me. What difference in power would there be in those differences in flow?

I will have the hotcam kit (emissions/streetability) CAI, Mac mids, Y, and hooker cat back, 30# injectors, shortly after a bigger TB, and of course a tune... no stall in the plans of yet

Do you not believe the rwHP ranges they show on the website for each of those packages?

Re: flow #'s vs. HP

yes, i believe those numbers, but my setup isnt exactly the same... so minus 10-15 hp maby?? Anyhow I was looking for hp differences between the various amounts of flow... maby i did not state my question well enough.
Example:
If one head flows 280/200 and makes 400 hp, on the same motor what power would a head that flows 290/205 make? Does that make sense?

Re: flow #'s vs. HP

If you lock yourself into the HOT cam, you've pretty much matched his "LE1" package. You aren't going to see the same rwHP #'s he quotes for the LE2 and LE3 packages, unless you go up to a more agressive camshaft. Heads and cam have to be "matched".... they work better that way. If the head flows more at a higher lift, and your cam doesn't have that lift, you aren't going to gain much, if anything, for example. If he's quoting an added 30rwHP for the LE2 package over the LE1, I would guess you'd be lucky to see more than 10-12 of those with the HOT cam, and virtually nothing at all for going up to the LE3 heads from the LE2 heads.

They are sold as a "package" for a reason.

now that i understand, i appreciate the explination... im not going to complain about the hotcam... until i buy a biger one in the future. so pretty much, haveing awesome heads is not as productive as it could be... as with haveing a huge cam on stock heads...

Greetings from Vegas and the LVFB!

I think those #'s look pretty generous myself. Anyone care to comment?

Re: flow #'s vs. HP

I'm starting to learn how important flow is. Look up some of Brent94Z's posts, his car made 399 rwhp with a HOTcam. It's all in the heads

I do agree agree that packages are there for a reason, but what I'm saying is a little more flow never hurt anyone!

wow, thats impressive... that is why i want to see if it is worth spending the extra money just to get a few hp... or in that case an extremely good peice of equipment... man i need to hit the lottery

Re: flow #'s vs. HP

I made 350whp/360wtq with the hotcam and Lloyds heads through a 6 speed and a street tune. I plan on switching to an LE2 cam soon. The heads were ported before he did the packages.
Hope this gives you an idea.

The Hotcam is also small compared to the LE1 cam, but it will work in about the same RPM range.
