Question FLow Numbers for 383 Heads?

Those of you with 383s installed what are your CNCd cylinder head flow numbers with 28.00" water @ .100 thru .600 lift?

Say no to dyno racing, and say no to flow bench racing.

Not trying to bench race here, just trying figure out which CNCd cylinder head would work the best for my built 383. One hears of some many different forms of CNCd heads on the board. My preference is to have a professionally machined and built head. So, I would like to know which head is the best bang for the buck.

well Im sure you don twant my #s, since i ported my own heads long ago.

just curious what your goal is for the car? strip killer? or good driver that also makes good power? from what Ive seen, and in my experience, 383 with mediocre heads will still be bad *** but w/o the high PEAK HP #s. if people just give you times slips and flow #s, or dyno #s and flow #s, thats not saying enough to gain any kind of opinion from, cuase there are too many other variables. just a thougth.

My goal is 12.0s, or quicker in the 1/4 on summer evening Test n Tunes. So, it may be a little radical for the street I get tired of seeing those brand X pony cars with a bolt on blower and nittos running 12 flat.

I realized there a ton of varibles when I asked this question. However, I was just curious what you guys have been installing on your 383s.

I run ported stockers with 2.00/1.56 valves...They were originally cnc'd hand worked by LPE in 1995 and then re-ported in 2005 by Eric Bradby (E.B. Porting) The only flow numbers I remember were at .550" lift...258 intake, 180 exhaust...The cam is a 226/234 weenie cam by most standards and times/mph/weight are in my sig...Not rocket science, just a well put together set up that runs its *** off...and is driven everywhere...

did you mean to say 11.0's? cause my car is full weight 17" tire and it ran 12.0's in 95 degree heat. see sig. in october I'll have it back to the track for M12 and it'll be very cool air and a great track. Im putting on my drag wheels and removing the front sway bar so Im hoping for an 11.50. last year setup like that,( but 20RWHP ago thanks to a quickie WOT tune) it ran the 11.75, so I know it'll improve alot with the extra RWHP but it did have 3:73's then, now has 3:42's. oh, and I drive mine everyday too when its nice out or I didnt park it in front of the house to try and sell it.

Im sure ANY CNC'd head will get you past your goals and into the mid 11's with the right cam to match.

That sure sounds fun. My cars weighs 3300 lbs. So, if I can get any traction at all I should get a pretty descent ET.

What 17" tires were you running when hit 12.0s?

nitto drag radials. I was shocked to see all 1.6x sixties. 1.63, 1.64, 1.68. the heat and sun on the track were helping it stick Im sure. but this track has always hooked for me last few years. I thought it was the ET streets I was running before.

I would hope you would see 12.0 with a ported head 383, its not that hard to hit that on the stock heads and a cam if the car is set up well. The only thing holding me from 11's are those damn 3.42 gears
