sloooooooooowly coming together

Project: Error 396
bored .030 and zero decked block
Cam Motion mild solid roller cam
Eagle 3.875 crank
Compstar 6.0 rods
Splayed 4-bolt w/ ARP studs
JE custom pistons
Isky RedZone lifters
Manley 221443-16 valve springs
Smith Bros. oil restricting pushrods: 6.155 @ 5/16" w/ .83" wall thickness.
LT4 composite valve covers
Crane Gold 1.6 rockers
7/16 studs
Isky adjustable guideplates
LPE CNC LT4 heads with orignal CNC port job and port matched intake (purchased in 1997 )
ARP head bolts
Cloyes double roller
Meziere W/P
Canton 242T pan which doesn't leak one drop!
Spec Stage 3+ clutch
Stock zero balanced flywheel
3" steel DS
Spohn T/A w/ DS loop
LPE/Accell billet 58mm TB
Hooker LT's
custom 3" mandrel bent ORY
SLP 2OTL catback with cutout (hate it)
Hotchkis PHR and LCA's
Weld on relocation brackets
SLP Level II susp.
It's been so damned long I have no idea what shocks/struts I have. Stiff is all I know.
B&M ripper (my SLP Hurst was a joke in comparison)
Taylor 8mm plug wires
NGK TR55 plugs
SVO 42# injectors
Walbro 255
Moroso standard volume oil pump w/ high pressure spring.
Strange 12-bolt with 3.73 gears

I only started planning this 2 years ago and it's done already!
Should be around 11:1 after all is done (8.7 dynamic).
This is basically the same setup as Jordon Musser's 401 except he was running higher compression than my setup. Thanks to him and Jason Short for ALL of the information they so happliy gave me!

With the big 3.875" stroke it is amazing how far-down the pistons go in the bore, as opposed to a 350 with only 3.48” stroke. Your 396 really looks nice setting there on the engine stand. What kind of times are you expecting to run with it? And, don’t tell me you’re not planning to run it at the track (that would be a real waste)!

Thanks..

Engineer,
I make it a habit to aim low. It's unknown if or how badly the LPE heads are going to restrict this engine. I am hoping for at least 450rwhp and 4xxrwtq.
Times? Well I'd love to run a high 10 in the high 120/low 130 range, but the way my suspension is set up (SLP Level II) and the race weight being in the 3750lb range I don't think that'll happen.
Of course I'm going to take it to the track, but this is definately more a street car/weekend cruiser with working A/C and all the niceties than anything else. With that in mind I don't see myself changing up the suspension anytime soon. If I get the need to go faster I might along with throwing some spray at it's general direction. Right now I just want to enjoy it and hopefully make it run to its full potential.

Yea, but then again who doesnt, its all over the local boards here. To be honest I think too many people know about it. But i plan on being there too, maybee we can get a run in, should be a good run. I mean our cars do look alike and have the same mods. Hell maybee even run the same shot!.

Nice! My 388 makes 12.1:1 compression, I think that engine will make some good power.
