Fixing burned O2 wires

I have a feeling that the pass side O2 wires have been burned by my headers given a now have a closed loop miss. If a wire is burned can I just splice in a new wire to the O2 or will it cause problems?

Are you getting an SES light? Did you verify that you had a burnt harness?

From my research, splicing in a piece of regular wire will cause some problems. I had the idea of just splicing longer wires on some O2 sensors when doing my headers, and through doing some research I found that O2 wires are not just plain copper wire which is a big reason for buying extensions, the other reason is the plug and play aspect is nice. I would just buy another O2 sensor if it were my car.

What if the wire is burned after the o2 sensor connection?

Since my O2 wires are burned at the header on the pass side under the black loom, and regular copper wire won't work, how do I go about fixing this?

If burned on the O2's harness, replace the sensor. If burned on the engine harness, repair (solder and heatshrink).

What about just using a wire connector to repair the wire, would that work or would it throw off the O2 readings? I don't have a soldering gun (nor soldered before) but will get one if absolutely necessary to fix this.

You can get a soldering iron at Walmart for about $10. That's what I use and it works pretty good...

You can use a crimp style butt connector, but I would still use a heatshrink to cover it up.

Used the butt connectors, and heatshrink covered them. Hope this helps.
