fixed my problems after 4 months of searching
fixed my problems after 4 months of searching
today i almost ready to send the car to the crusher. for those of you who have red my other post know that i had a bad ignition problem. the car would warm up and bogg really bad. well i replaced every componet of the ignition. well a friend of mine told me to swap plug wires with him becuse he got a bad set from msd one time. so we swapped his accels to my car and guess what the car runs like new. so i have a set of new accels on it now and the ****ty msd wires are in the trash. so thanks to all who helped and provided advice.
Re: fixed my problems after 4 months of searching
well i have had good experiences with the ignition boxes from msd. i used to race dirtrack and i have used both the msd 6al and the 7a boxes and no problems and i currently have a msd coil on the car and its great i just dont like the wires. after this i will never use or reccomend msd wires ever again. 60 bucks wasted on some ****ty wires will teach u a lesson real quick
Re: fixed my problems after 4 months of searching
im not saying that all msd wires are crap but ive done some searching and found over 20 people where the msd 8.5 mm wires craped out since day one. the sad thing is msd wont own up to it and agree to look at the wires or anything.
Re: fixed my problems after 4 months of searching
could be why my car is missing. Most people on here (and i am guilty of this too) don't folow up on their posts after they find the solution to there problem. Thanks so much.
Re: fixed my problems after 4 months of searching
Im not saying this bc i work at a chevy dealership but honestly ACdelco is a real good brand....and they make some high performance wires that you can usually get in red or some other colors, I found out the hard way using aftermarket brands, ( I went thru 4 NAPA water pumps in less than a month b4 I bought an ACdelco and I havent had a prob since, honestly) NAPA is a pretty good brand for water pumps but maybe just not a LT1
and btw I can change a water pump on a LT1 now in about a hour even lol oh and I know acdelco has some type of warranty on their stuff too, just adding my .02

When it comes to replacing engine parts (not bolt onz or modz) it is best to stay with OEM. Sure it is a little extra $$$ but it is worth the gaurantee and peace of mind. Just replaced my AC DELCO wires and plugs with a new set. Sure did wake my tired LT1 up a bit.
Re: fixed my problems after 4 months of searching
For new wires, one thing I learned, it doesn't matter what the brand or if it is a custom set of wires that I made, I always use a digital ohmmeter and measure the resistance of the wires end-to-end to determine if the high voltage wire is making a good connection before I install them.
Suppression wire has a rating of so many ohms per foot. By comparing the resistance of several, you can get a good idea what that value is.
But, generally, if you have a defective wire, it will have infinite resistance end-to-end. This is usually due to a bad crimp of the terminal on the wire, but can be a break in the suppression conductor. If you get infinite resistance, it will never work correctly even though the high-voltage may jump the gap.
For old used wires, the insulation can deteriorate allowing leakeage -- you can't read that on an ohmmeter.

these wires had about 10 miles on them befor they messed up. but i second the accel 300+ being the best. i cant believe how well they were made. just the neatness of the crimps compaired to the msds. i will never go with msd wires ever again. accel 300+ are the way to go.
