Mustang dyno

I will be dynoing the car soon to see what it puts down. It will be on a Mustang dyno ( not my choice, but that's what we got ). i have heard the numbers from the Mustang dynos don't give accurate numbers for our cars?? If so, how do i figure it? If the car puts down 300 on the Mustang what would it show on a different dyno?

Re: Mustang dyno

Perhaps that it is nots that they don't provide accurate measures as much as they may differ from a Dynojet. Some say that the Mustang reads about 8 to 12 percent below the Dynojet.

I guess if you want to compare numbers you could use a rough estimate, however if you really want to know what it would read on a Dynojet then you would have to use a dynojet.

Dynoing your car is really only useful if you can tune it. Spending money to dyno is otherwise just a way of becoming disappointed or elated based on your numbers compared to someone elses (which is mostly inaccurate since the conditions are never exactly the same) JMHO

Re: Mustang dyno

Many Mustang dynos have the eddy current option which allows you to simulate driving conditions. You can then target an rpm/map value and optimize your combination. The eddy current load is much better than riding the drum/roller brake on a dynojet to try to load the vehicle. Many consider the Mustang the true tuners dyno because it offers the loading capability.
