If you install the seal correctly, it doesn't leak.

+1 - ShoeBox is absolutely correct. It's difficult to install, but when it's done right ZERO leaks. Took me 3 tries til I got it right but haven't seen a drop in 3 years.

Unless its the water pump drive shaft.

My car leaked oil from the seal when i bought it. After replacing it 3 times over two years it kept leaking. I finally took it to a friend who knows LT1s very well and works as a tech at a chevy dealership. He replaced it himself and again it leaked. Turned out to be the water pump driveshaft was worn out and wobbled slightly enlarging the seal.

Put a new one on and i have been oil leak free for 5 years

You are right. No amount of correctly installed seals will fix that problem, but it was not the fault of the seal or it's install.

It was lubed on install, every time.
I'm almost certain there is an insert page that comes with the seal that says to NOT lub the seal to install it dry.
