First time replacing front crank seal

It was a total PITA to do!

First, getting the hub and balancer off was not easy. Ruined one puller, stripped the threads on it, this was supposedly supposed to be a good one too, the kit costs around $100. Went and got an Autozone $15 one and it worked 10x better.

The old seal come out real easy with a seal puller. Getting the new one in was also a PITA, tried some idea from various writeups on the board and none really worked out. Ruined 1 seal trying that, had to get another(buy at least 2 seals when you get ready to do this). Starting the seal into the cover is pretty tricky, the only way that worked was positioning it just right and starting it in with a hammer, just light taps on it. Once started, I used a small deep well socket and hammer to slowly tap the seal in.

Getting the hub and balancer back on was pretty easy, just need a hammer to do that.

I would think just lining up the seal and pounding it in with a flat surface, like a 2x4x2 wood block would work.

A exhaust adapter the same size as the seal will work also. Also hammering the balancer back on is not the right way to do it.Should have used an installer or pulled it back on with the balancer bolt.
