This setup is nice because you basically get to plug the pump in like its a stock component and looks factory. Its pretty much 3-4 wires total and you're done. If you go out and look at the areas you'll be messing with in the write up on the actual car it may clear a few things up or straighten out what you have to do. That always worked for me when I started doing my own work on the car. I'd be happy to help as best I can if you decide to go this route. Its free after all.

Is that it? Or am I wrong? I just don't understand when he starts talking about splicing into the PCM and whatnot.
SORRY TO HIJACK THE THREAD!!!!!!!
Re: Final Electric Water pump thread
Thanks for all the help guys there are some huge projects all tied in here. I have headers but have not even started putting them on I assume I can leave the air pump on the car and connected to the manifolds just use the directions in order to power the water pump?

Just folow the wiring instructions in the wrie-up, its pretty simple, Leave the WP gear in, just remove the coupler (save it for possible use one day). I ranquite a few miles with the gear in, untill my rebuild when I removed it and plugged the hole with a freeze plug.
The instructions that come with mine say to insert the freeze plug from the front, not the back (engine side) of the pump... that will prevent the weep hole drainage issue.

So basically, you get the plug out of the air pump, and cut the old plug off the w/p, then solder the air pump plug onto the w/p wires. Then put a new 15amp fuse in, and plug it in.

Re: Final Electric Water pump thread
Well I opted for the Summit EWP and the woring diagram isnt that good. I am going to take another look at it tonight. I did nopt remove the air pump and dont think I want to yet until I start working with the new headers. So I just need to find some wires I can use for power etc. Has anyone done one of these? Alo the freeze plug they send I read in the thread about puting it from inside the water pump out? I assume that means looking at the front of the engine and waterpump put the freeze plug where the impeller was and press it in?
Re: Final Electric Water pump thread
Wow OK I will admit my typing sucked in the last reply but does anyone know about putting the freeze plug in from the front or the back of the water pump? The directions say back but they gave me no freeze plug for the weep hole.
Re: Final Electric Water pump thread
Do it from the front.
The Summit pump is actually the CVR ProFlow Billet pump (http://www.cvrproducts.com/).

Re: Final Electric Water pump thread
Well I am pretty sure that GM sucks A$$ What kind of a friggin idiot designs something that doesnt like to get wet or antifreeze on it and makes suer if the water pump goes it wipes the friggin opti out too? God damn geniuses at GM of course. I am pretty sure it is no good the car started up missing and skipping then died now wont fire at all no spark I think I will need some one to help me turn it over tomorrow. Maybe I will find a GM rep and ask him to hang onto the wire while I turn it over to test. Just throwing it out there and venting. Does it sound like a dead opti? Does anyone have one of these affordable and finally how much to replace it with a MSD or something worth more than the powder to blow it to hell?
