A few questions regarding o2 sensors
A few questions regarding o2 sensors
If the coating is starting to come off of my longtube headers can it ruin my o2 sensors???? My car was running rich for a while and the coating is comming off on the collector on the driver side.
I was having problems a few weeks ago which turned out to be the o2 sensor on the driver side. I replaced it with a new one from gm an the car ran great no poping from the exaust and it felt strong.
Well the SES light came back on today and i got it scanned at a tire shop. It was giving P0137 wich is oxygen sensor circuit low voltage, Post conveter sensor left bank.
I am running with out cats and the rear o2's were programmed out of the computer. I also took out the new o2 that I put in and rechecked the resistance on the wires that I spliced and everything checked out
So is there any way that I can test to see if the new o2 sensor is bad?? and how would I be getting the code i am getting if the rear o2's are programed out of the computer?

Re: A few questions regarding o2 sensors
That O2 sensor has no effect on fuel delivery. It can go bad, and nothing will change. It's just there to indicate that your cat has gone bad. If you don't have cats anymore, it is most likely why you are getting that code. You shouldn't be getting that code at all though if they have been deleted in your PCM.
And yes, the header coating has been known, or at least assumed, to kill an O2 sensor before. Happened to me with my Jet-Hot coated MAC's. Both of my Front O2's went bad right after the install.

That is also what I thought but it seems that I am. The car has run fine all winter with the longtubes installed and no cats. The rear o2s were deleted out of the computer before I installed the headers.
Also where is the harness for the rear driverside o2? I cant find it at all.
Re: A few questions regarding o2 sensors
Well I tossed in the other new o2 sensor i had kicking around into the driver side header and fired her up. No SES light so I think my problem is fixed for now. But why would a bad front o2 sensor give the code that I got????
Also on a side note can you convert the harness on a rear o2 sensor so you can use it as a front one or do they operate different? I might have to try it cause i do have two old rear o2 sensors kicking around.
