few questions about taking engine out

Hi i have a 1994 z28 and i am pulling the engine to do a rebuild. i got everythign off to drop the engine (taking it out of the bottom). so far i have everything off the engine accept 2 things and i cant figure them out. first is the fuel lines that go into the rails. cant figure out how they go on they arent like any type of connector ive ever seen. i hear theres a special tool for it but ill try and do without if i can. sorry if it has been asked before. i searched everywere and couldnt find an answer. 2nd is the steering columb. i cant seem to figure out how it comes off. i got the plastick cover off but still cant firuge it out. help is appreciated.

For the fuel lines, you need a standard GM fuel line disconnect tool. Slide it into the fuel line at the rail, push, and you'll feel them pop. Then just slide them off.

You can remove the steering linkage fairly easily. There is one bolt on each end of the linkage. Remove the two bolts and slide the linkage off of the shaft. It may be a bit rusted, but just use some PB Blaster.

Any parts store will have it. It's like 10 bucks.

When you disconnect the steering shaft be sure that the steering wheel is locked. Spinning the steering wheel with the shaft disconnected can cause damage to the clock spring, causing the Air bag light to illuminate and turning off the airbag system.
