A few questions....

so i got a killer deal on a set of GTP (Gallant Technical Performance) stock casting ported heads. i dont know much about the heads or the company and if anyone can chime in on if they are a good company that would be great. anyways, these heads are suppose to flow 265 intake / 210 exhuast, and i really want to run the gm-847 cam. the heads were used once before on a car, and i gave them a well known engine builder and racer here on the east coast, andy jensen. he bead blasted and hot tanked them. gave them a valve job and machined the valve spring pockets deeper for the right install height of the springs. what do u think the est. hp will be? whats the highest you can rev a stock bottom end lt-1? also i want to replace the lifters, which lifters would be best for the set up?

Re: A few questions....

GTP heads were popular back in the late 90's. I think the guy who did them was Craig Gallant. The ones I've seen flow tested were very well done. But LT1/LT4 head technology seems to have improved immeasurably over the last 10 years, so the numbers you are quoting seem to be fairly "average" by today's standards.

Re: A few questions....

Should be an 11 second combo on motor. It'll take spray for a while, but it'll most likely let go after a while.

Re: A few questions....

Don't put a big cam in there w/o a stall, you'll regret it.

Automatic cars don't need to worry that much about the rear. I've been pushing my stock rear for years now, 300+ passes, and it's still ok for the most part pushing 1.6x 60' times.

Yes and yes on the injectors and TB...

I picked up 30lb svo's but kinda regret it now, wish I would have gone bigger just in case they max out, hopefully they won't. TB if you're gonna buy one might as well just 58mm.
