A few questions...
A few questions...
Hello to all. I am new to the forum and have a couple of questions. I own a 97 z28 which I purchased new. It has been in the garage for almost 3 years and I want to fix it up now. The only problem is that I am in Indiana and dont know of any shops I would trust my engine to. Anyone know of ANY good shops in Indiana or Kentucky? Thats the first question.
Second, what would you do to this engine? I would like to gain another 100 HP or so, and keep it reliable as I want to drive it on trips to Florida etc... It has 77,000 miles on it, and mostly has been treated like a baby. I welcome any advice.
I am sure I will be a regular here, as I never knew a place like this existed. Thanks for the help!!!

Re: A few questions...
First off welcome to the board....
Now for the questions, can't help you out with a shop but as far as parts choices we can help there.
First things i would recomend is start with getting a good foundation. First do a good tuneup then....
Full exhaust
Cold Air Intake
MSD ignition
That should gain you aboud 25-30hp at the wheels. If your wanting to gain a 100hp i would look into a camshaft and ported heads along witha computer tune. A smaller cam like the cc306 along with the above mods and ported heads should get you some decent power to start out with.
Also are you wanting to hit a HP number or a timeslip number? if you going for good 1/4 times look into some gears for your rearend and also a stall converter if your an automatic. Theres a couple quick ideas for you if you have anymore questions feel free to email us (usally fastest way to reach us) or visit our site and contact us.

Re: A few questions...
Thanks for the reply. All the parts wont do me much good without someone to install them, and thats the main problem Im having.
Anyone have any experience with Lingenfelter? Do they do minor mods?

Re: A few questions...
Most of the stuff won't give you any trouble if you want to do it yourself, just dont get in a hurry and plan on the car being down a couple of days. Get yourself a good set of tools and you can save a bunch on the installation. A manual on your car and th einstructions provided with the parts should get you through just about anything and theres always plenty of guys on here willing to offer advice who have already done most everything you can do to one of these cars. Besides, half the fun is in doing the modifications to the car, the other half is seeing your competitors in the rear view.
