Stock has no guideplates. I recommend getting the GM p/n 14011051 plates (you will need 8).
Call CM and tell them what you are doing and they will recommend a set of springs. They will come with retainers and locks. Get some new valve seals from them while you are at it.

You also need 7/16" studs for the larger rockers.

I just installed a cam close to CC306's specs:

230/244 for CC306 - 544/576 lift with 1.6 rockers

Mine: 233/239 - 569"/.577" with 1.6 rockers

I used Combination Motorsports' 612 springs/locks/retainers and they seem to work fine so far. They did not require machining and are good to .600 lift. I've been told that they will wear out fairly quick because of the single spring and higher lift. Dual springs require machining.

As already mentioned, you will also need 7/16" studs and guideplates.

I used:

Comp Hi-Tech 1 pc. Chromemoly pushrods
Non Self aligning 1.6 pro mag rockers 7/16"
7/16" studs
GM guideplates (shoebox's PN)
Comp R lifters
Stock timing chain with NEW cam and crank sprockets

Crane 99893 dual springs don't require machining

You could have gone with the Crane 10308 spring set. Dual coil springs, good to .600" lift and don't require any machining. Did you get those springs as part of their package deal?

That sucks... Wish I knew about this earlier.
Actually, I picked up the springs on the board. I'll probably replace them in a year or so. Might be a good excuse to upgrade the heads too.
