Question Faulty Fuel Filter (say that 3 times fast!)

Okay, I checked my plugs, wires, bunch of other stuff..Only thing I can think of now is my fuel...unless my Opti is going again..
What are the symptoms of a clogged/bad fuel filter? I just changed it a few months ago, no more than 1k miles..I just bought one from Autozone for like $7 and Im gonna see if it helps my stutter around 2-2.5k RPMs to about 3k RPMs. Its a noticable power loss and stutters pretty bad. Pretty much at WOT though, Its not so bad if at all...could this be a fuel filter? what would cause a filter to go bad in this short amount of time? Thanks guys,
Derek

Sounds like an electrical problem/miss. A bad filter is going to hurt you up top.

yeah thats what im starting to think...I may have a bad 'used' opti..I bought it used with like..3k or 9k miles on it..forgot which..but it seemed fine right away..now im having mis-fire problems it seems, I just put in the new fuel filter..
The old one..when I blew through it, no air came out..so it wasnt in good shape im thinking...the new one..when I blew through it, I felt a lot of air pass through. So between this fuel filter...my #8 plug that was fouled up from exhaust (from when the Cat was off)...Im winding down again to the Opti. Its very possible I got too much moisture in it when I changed my Waterpump, I spilled some coolant all over the Opti..like from the top..but I didnt think it could get in..
Its very possible though..since I cleaned the badly fouled #8 plug..and just the visible insides of the plug wire..there may be a lot more corrosion INSIDE the wire for the #8 plug..you guys think? If a new set of plug wires dont fix this..I can only assume its the Opti..thats gonna suck. Thanks for any input guys, as usual

As stated above, when my fuel filter was bad, it hurt me up top.

You should change your title to faulty USED opti. Sorry you had to learn the hard way, dont be cheap when it comes to the opti in our cars.

Yeah Ill admit I was being a cheapskate when I replaced the Opti, however, I was paying more in bills than I had at the time..and a $100 Opti sounded way more apetizing than a $400 one...normally Id do things right the first time but it only had 3k on it..which is almost new.
It did have some 'fix its' on it though..which kinda makes me skeptical...I dont know how honest the guy (from this board) was with the care he took with it..It had obvious fixed cracks and the #1 Opti outlet thing was chipped and stuff..but still works. I know when the car is running, I can see the spark in a dark area, in the Opti and the Coil sparks too. Sometimes the Coil to Opti wire arcs to the mounting bolt for the Coil..dont think that does anything to affect the car..but still shouldnt happen in my book
I heard that Autozone actually has a complete Opti (rotor and cap/ready to mount) with a lifetime warrenty for $130! Does anyone know if this is a decent part or is it too new for anyone to have experienced? I dont want anyone trashing auto parts stores stuff ..I know they are not the best..Im only asking for the quality..since it is a LIFETIME warranty. I dont care about replacing it and tearin it apart and replacing it (for FREE) if its defective, thats not hard and not that time consuming. Just if this part is worth $130 compared to a dealerships $400+. By the way it is a non-vented 94 Opti..Thanks.
