fast burn heads
Re: fast burn heads
so these are lt4 heads and not the standard flow fast burns? my friend found some that he might get a good deal on and wanted to make sure they are compatible with a lt1. would he need an lt4 intake or will the original lt1 intake work. thanks
Re: fast burn heads
What he is saying is those are what GM did to use the LT4 technology on gen1 motors. Those are Gen 1 heads and would require a fair amount of modification to use on an LT1. If you want to use those heads on an LT1 you need to not get those heads but rather get LT4s.
Re: fast burn heads
To my knowledge, GM only makes 3 manufactures heads that will work on our cars. LT1 aluminum, LT1 iron and LT4. I'm not sure what heads were on the "baby LT1s" but they may work too if theyre different.
Traditional small block heads willl not work.
LT4 heads are going to be as close as you can get to what youre looking for and that would be p/n 12363287.

Re: fast burn heads
You can't use the cast iron heads from the "baby LT1" (265ci) on an LT1... the chambers are too small.
You can put a Gen 1 SBC head on an LT1, but you need to modify (weld closed and redrill) some of the coolant passages so they match the "reverse flow" passages in the LT1 block. Then you need to find an intake manifold (LT1 intake manifolds are routinely converted - more drilling and welding - to fit Gen 1 heads) that will fit. If you opt for a Gen 1 intake, you need to address the issue of the coolant connections that exist on the sides of the Gen 1 intake manifolds. Obviously since the Gen 1 "fast burn" heads do not offer any advantage over the LT4 head, it wouldn't make any sense to invest the time and money required to convert it to work on the LT1 block.
Go to Advanced Tech and look for the threads on the SB2.2 heads. How close to 400cfm are you looking for?
