Fan Relay and a stripped sparkplug
Fan Relay and a stripped sparkplug
Hey all. After going through the chore of replacing my busted water pump, I went into the problem of inoperating fans on my 1997 Z28.
For the fans:
I had to replace the grounding wire on the fan and fan 1 works when I by-pass the relays. When the relay is in, and the car hot, the fan still doesn't come on! I checked the voltage across the relay (to activate it) and my multi-meter checks it to be 13V. I checked the relay with a 9V battery and it does click over and has continuity on the two poles.
For the plug:
I pulled my #8 sparkplug to replace it, and found that it had some weird orange stuff and what looked like a copper holder contraption around it. Well paying that no mind, I tried slipping the new plug in. To my astonishment - it wouldn't tighten down! So putting two and two together (and the fact that the plug I removed didn't match the other 7 plugs I removed), I concluded that some jack-a-hole stripped it out previously, and had some sort of way to fix it up. So for the time being, what would be a way to fix it so I could drive my car for a day or two, and what would be the best long-term way to fix the problem?
Thanks for the replies in advance

Re: Fan Relay and a stripped sparkplug
Take some JB Weld and cover the threads on a spark plug with a good amount. Then carefully screw it in the head until its tight but the threads are still straight. Unscrew the plug then let it sit for atleast 12 hours. I would think that should hold you until you could pull the thread and have it done right. Good luck
