I'm running denatured alky (in my alky injection) and that **** works man!!! You go get a gallon drum of that, and maybe 5 or 6 gallons of premium on top of that you will be set. Your octane will be increased dramatically. That should be enough to squeeze you through. Otherwise, bring 100 bucks cash and a case of beer and that should do it too.

hehe looks like everyone recommends alcohol in some way or another . Id just grab a bottle of that emission passer stuff from autozone or whatever and put it in and drive it for like 30 mins in traffic and then go get it tested. Thank god no sniffer test down here in NC although in a few years they are going to odb II run test scanners , but those are easy to beat .

So you expect some guy you don't even know to pass you because you asked him??? Maybe in pleasantville but not on earth, 99% of people aren't that nice. I'm talking about 100 bucks total anyway.

That guaranteed to pass crap stuff doesn't work like the alcohol will. The stuff they sell at the auto parts store is more of a carbon cleaner that cleans the combustion chambers.

ok, so basically this is what I have gathered...run the fuel almost out and put a gallon of alcohol in the tank...put premium fuel in, about 7 gallons, run it for about 30 minutes to get the engine hot, and take the test...right???

Ok then, what kind of alcohol should I put in?? denatured alcohol?? can i just go to home depot and pick up some of that stuff??

What about disconnecting the PCV valve? would that help also??

Yes & Yes. Just make sure that what you get is "Denatured Alcohol". Dont know about the PVC. Sorry.

That garunteed to pass stuff is not meant for high output modified engines. It is meant for abused high mileage honda civics that should be passing but were ran through like a dirty ***** and they need a douche to pass.

Use the denatured alcohol. I have also heard of people using xylene or toulene but I would stick with denatured. You can't miss it, it will say it in big *** letters on the can.

Did you fail the test, and then try this and it worked? In other words, do you have proof it was really the alcohol that helped, or might it have passed anyway?

I failed the test 4 times. I was mainly failing for high hydrocarbons which the alcohol didnt seem to have much if any effect on, but both of the times I tested with denatured alcohol in the tank including the fifth test which I passed the CO and NOx were much lower than without running alcohol.

If your passing on HC's and your CO and NOx are high try the alcohol, it will lower them. You do need to get whatever is causing the problem straightened out though as the alcohol is only a bandaid. Give some of the stuff here a read as it might help you actually get to the root of the problem.

Might want to try a tune up if you haven't already...

And don't feel bad - our "allowable HC" count is something like 220ppm. On my little test 2 weeks ago I was polluting out 6850ppm. Just a wee bit too high. heh

My HC was about where yours was, but I just replaced the O2's and it was fine...

I think i'm going to give the alcohol a shot today, i'll post the results...
