Failed emissions

Ok I have failed my emissions test 3 times. I have the LT4 conversion and BBk Shortys. 52mm TB and stock cat. I had the car Dyno tuned by Speed inc. The car runs awesome but still wont pass emissions. My Hydrocarbons are to high. .80 allowed and I have 1.46. Any ideas on what I can do to get it to pass. I was wondering if I turned the regulator pressure down a little and brought the fans turn on points back to normal if this would help. Please, any help is appreciated. Thanks

That's weird.... Your RWHP is also low for your mods.... Are you sure your car is firing on all cylinders OK and stuff? Maybe try replacing the cat. You had over 100K miles on that car, if I remember right?

all the cylinders are firing. all the plugs where very nice when I had them out 2 weeks ago. The cat has 50,000 miles on it. I ask about the horse power too and they told me the stock cat and shorty headers where killing my horse. Seemed funny to me. I would have thought the car should of had more power as well.

I had a buddy who used to have a ford galaxie carbed car. And he would lean out the fuel and would pass emissions like that.

See if you can do that with yours, I wonder if it would work like it did for him.

Good luck Ron.

Of note... I don't think you can just change the regulator setting and have the car lean out. The actual pressure at the fuel rail may be different, but the PCM will correct the injector pulsewidths based on the different O2 readings. So I should think it would cancel out the "lean" condition imposed by the regulator.

That's just my opinion. I could be wrong.
