Factory Oil cooler with LTs...?

So I have a factory oil cooler adapter sitting around and am in the process of putting my long tubes in, as well as some massive front suspension pieces. It doesn't look like i'll be able to use the oil cooler due to clearance issues with the headers. Anyone else have experience with this?

Many people have removed the factory oil cooler with no problems...its one less part to leak and go bad as well...

I heard it only came on 93 LT1's, then GM didn't put it on 94-97. I would take that as a sign that you don't need it.

Sorry, that's not true. My 94 has one and it was an option at least through 95.

Do you need one on a street car? Probably not....

Re: Factory Oil cooler with LTs...?

After I posted in this thread, I read the other one where someone with a 95 had an oil cooler and I figured I would get corrected. Maybe it was on all 93's and an option on 94 and 95. Who knows. Sorry if I confused anyone. My 93 came with an oil cooler and my 95 did not. My 93 also had the bose sound, 155 speedo cluster, elec seat and 3.23 gears and my 95 had 2.73 with the basic interior stuff, so it would make sense that it was an option.

Re: Factory Oil cooler with LTs...?

According to my 94 sales brochure, the oil cooler came with the "performance rear axle" package on the A4 cars. My M6 had one (and still has it - no problems in 17 years).
