f/i to carb questions

im doing this for a buddy, owns a 93lt1z28, he is going carburated on that motor, the only 1 intake manifold ive heard of that goes on the lt1 is the gm performance parts Dual plane intake, i thought it'd bre better to go single plane, so is there any Co that has a single plane intake for a lt1.
the car will have cc306 with 1.6 magnums. and everything else CC with jethot headers and other misc bolt ons

wat will i need, besides the intake manifold, ohh btw im wanting to delete the opti spark so i can go wit the hei distributor, ide like lots of help to help me work on this

thanks.

Yup, the GMPP one is the onyl one made for LT-1 cars. you can have others modified, but it just isn't worth it honestly. You will run into clearance problems with the cowl. Do a search and you will find tons of info.

Here is a pic of it installed on my wifes LT-1 in her third gen

Go the the "Advanced Tech" forum, and do a "search" on "single plane". Been discussed a few time.

Re: f/i to carb questions

If you are interested I have the intake (GMPP), a fuel pressure regulator (Mallory) and some other items you could use if you want to go carb. I had this setup on my LT1 for a short time before going back to FI. I may also have a Holley street avenger 770 carb and distributor and new MSD wires if you are interested. I also have a few extras that I could throw in as well, shoot me an email if you are interested. Basically what I have is a complete kit minus intake gaskets and fuel line.

Do a search on this swap, theres a ton of threads on this subject. In fact, I just posted in a similiar thread about FI to carb LT1 conversion.

Re: f/i to carb questions

I am in the middle of the the same project. Don't get the opti cover (cover the hole from the opti) it won't fit a 93. I will try to let you know about clearance of the intake once I get mine in. I ran into some difficulties with my hub and the Jet-Hots. Remove the passenger side header. It gets in the way of the head bolts that are in the back on the lower side. That is what I am doing tomorrow. Take your time with the a/c compressor it will **** you off getting to some of the bolts. I'll try to give you an update later.

What heads are you using?

Re: f/i to carb questions

It astounds me that people would take a perfectly good fuel injection system and switch it for a carb. Damn, I can't tell you how much I don't miss carburetors. I am even converting my alcohol BBC race car to EFI. nd that isn't a cheap conversion.

Did it ever occur to you that there is are no high-end race cars that run carbs unless the rules require it?
