externally balanced motor,T56,flywheel question

I'm about to purchase a stroker that is externally balanced but was hooked up to an A4. Now my concern is will it bolt up directly to my flywheel and T56 without any problems or will I have to get a new flywheel? Or have the flywheel balanced?
Thanks in advance
Dave

You will need to get your flywheel match-balanced to the A4's flywheel.

LT1's from the factory are externally balanced. Weight cast in on the back side of the flywheel(along with press in weights in holes around the outside of the flywheel) and damper.

Any way to speak with the shop that did the motor? You could quiz them on how they balanced it.

lt1's are an internal/external

I'm talking about an aftermarket RA, when you order one you have to go internally balanced, aftermarket gen 1 balancers will not clear an opti spark.

Not true. There is no "balancer" on the front of an LT1 engine. Its only a harmonic damper. So you don't need to change it. The external balance is done with a weight on the flywheel (M6) or on the flexplate (A4). If you couldn't build an aftermarket LT1 stroker with an external balance, my engine wouldn't be running right now

I understand it is a dampener on the LT1, I was stating that with most external kits you see they come with a balancer and flywheel. I was talking in general about the kits that you mostly see that are external balance won't work on an LT1 because they rely on balancing the RA with the balancer and flywheel included, but the balancer won't fit on an LT1. I assume what you have isn't a kit but a pieced together rotating assembly

You need an LT1 specific kit.

yeah, just that I see alot of people make this mistake on forums and pick up 2pc rear main or gen 1 external balance kits so I usually enter a discussion expecting one or the other
