Re: Exhaust question (True Dual)

i don't personally have true duals but i've read a lot of people's threads saying the x pipe is better (more direct flow). I believe stock exhaust is 2.75" so you don't want to go down, 3" would be my recommendation. are you going to have bullets and dump before the axle or fab something up all the way back?

But stock is only ONE pipe, not two.

Re: Exhaust question (True Dual)

How much power are you making. JFYI, I have 3" from collector to exhaust tip (run out the back under the axle) and I never scrape my exhaust.

Re: Exhaust question (True Dual)

Let's put it this way 3" exhaust is overkill for most engines. Unless you have 500+ horse I think you will be just fine with the 2.5". I did the 2.5" and I think it is more then enough for my app. Now I see you have a 383 so you may be able to use the extra flow but I doubt it. Personally I don't think you need more then 2.5" unless its on a high horse car. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Exhaust question (True Dual)

maybe try searching first...this has been beaten to death, twice. But what the **** hell, I researched all this a long time ago, last year sometime. This is what i came up with if i remeber correctly. x's flow better, h's sound better. 3" is a little over doing it unless you got a more than stock cubic inch, but what the hell, who cares. Its alot cooler to have 3inch pipe than that weenie 2.5 There was a formula running around here, saying that 2.5" would do you good up until some hp number. I dont remeber what the number is, nor the formula. sorry

When i was running my duals, if you even wanta call it that. I didnt have either, piping or an x-h pipe. It consisted of LT headers, with sweet thumder tubed mufflers in 3 inch clamped on to the babys. I think it flowed pretty good.
